CardBrowser CEO Takes Wraps Off Secret Online Business Card Database

NORTHPORT, N.Y.- (BUSINESS WIRE) - March 17, 2003 - CardBrowser announced commercial availability of its online business card service today. CardBrowser attends the major and niche high-tech industry tradeshows and events, collects business cards from C-Level, Sales, Marketing, and Product Management Executives, and loads the cards in to a searchable database on the web. The service enables search firms and employers to find passive candidates who do not ordinarily place resumes on the Internet.

"CardBrowser started out as a secret service about a year and a half ago" says Steven Morgan, President and CEO of CardBrowser. "Our clients were trying to focus their sales and marketing recruiting efforts on passive candidates - people who were employed and not actively conducting a job search. We began attending tradeshows in order to network with potential candidates and collect their business cards, which we shared with our clients. Since most high-tech companies send their best people to represent them at industry events, the service proved extremely useful to our clients."

In February of 2002, CardBrowser finalized development of a database to store the business cards for access by its clients. Each business card was scanned, checked for accuracy, and uploaded to the database. Clients were able to use CardBrowser's web-based search engine to find cards by tradeshow, title, company, location, and other criteria. By the end of 2002, CardBrowser had dozens of early adopters who were paying to access thousands of business cards over the web. In addition, several companies who provide products and services to high-tech companies have used the service as an alternative to buying lists and research in order to reach their target market.

"CardBrowser is formally launching with a satisfied and loyal customer base, and a proven business model for empowering search firms, employers, and marketing executives, to rapidly zero-in on candidates and prospects" says Morgan. "We have made a significant investment in developing a global field team of professional networkers, a secure and scalable technology platform, and an efficient back office operation, in order to provide our service to a large customer base in multiple markets."

In Q1 and for the rest of 2003, CardBrowser has aggressively stepped up its networking agenda, which includes attendance at approximately 100 software and technology tradeshows in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

"As the owner/manager of a search firm that specializes in the software and IT sales marketplace, I am always on the look out for fresh new ideas and ways to access candidates and companies that are not in everyone else's database" says Doug Miller, President of Strategic Sales Search, a search firm based in Camp Hill, PA, and a CardBrowser customer. "CardBrowser has effectively helped us do just that. We have been able to speak with decision makers via phone and email that we would not have normally been able to access without a significant investment in research assistance and support. Conversely, we have been able to recruit and develop candidate relationships that would have required an investment of time and resources from our search consultants. In the past 4 weeks we have written 8 job orders with new companies that were not in our database, and set-up interviews with over 10 candidates that we did not previously know who were pulled from the CardBrowser database."
